Civic Sunday
One of the highlights of the year will take place on Sunday, 13th July 2008 when Peel holds it's annual Civic Sunday Service.

This year Mrs Thelma Birkett, Chairman of Peel Town Commissioners will host her Civic Sunday Service. The day commences with a parade led by Castletown Silver Band at 10:40am from outside the Town Hall down Church Street, Christian Street, across Atholl Place and along Atholl Street to the gated entrance to St German's Cathedral. The actual service will commence at 11:00am and the congregation will be entertained by two songs to be performed by past Cleveland Medal winner Karen Elliott. Refreshments will follow the service and be served in the Corrin Hall. An invitation is extended to all residents to attend the church service.

Beach Improvements
The outdoor workforce have recently been working on certain improvements to Peel Beach. A cold water shower has been installed on the shore near to the Promenade Kiosk. A concrete path has been constructed from the shower to the slipway. The drinking fountain on the Promenade is to be restored and should be operational within a few days.

Finally a beach volley ball net has been erected on the beach (adjacent to the Peel Sailing Club) for use and enjoyment of all.

Peel Day - 1st June 2008
The Commissioners have worked hard to ensure Peel has a great day's entertainment on "Mad Sunday", 1st June 2008.

In previous years the Commissioners have worked in conjunction with Honda UK to provide our visiting bikers with a full day of fun, stunts and entertainment. With the absence of Honda this year the Commissioners have worked hard to provide a fun filled day packed with entertainment for visitors and locals alike.

We are pleased to welcome the TV stars Dave Myers and Si King better known as the "Two Hairy Bikers" who will ride out to Peel in the morning and kick off the day's entertainment at 12 noon. They will be available for autographs and photo opportunities. In addition they will cook a BBQ on the beach.

Turning to two wheeled entertainment we have the stars under the Straightliners banner performing various stunts at the Creg Malin car park. In addition there will be the ever popular "Purple Helmets" and Manx born Trials Star Steve Colley entertaining the crowds at the Creg Malin.

On the open air stage erected at the other end of the promenade five rock groups/bands will provide live music throughout the afternoon and early evening.

The timetable of events is as follows :-
